  15. <p>     DIED. Rene Pleven, 91, a leading figure of the Free French
  16. during World War II and later Prime Minister of France; in
  17. Paris. Pleven entered French governmental politics as a Gaullist
  18. in the early 1940s. But his political advancement came through
  19. his leadership of a wing of the Resistance party. He later
  20. served as France's Defense Minister and for two brief terms as
  21. Prime Minister between 1950 and 1952.
